Forum Thomanum

Bauhaus University Weimar
Design and Theory of Building Types, Prof. K.-H. Schmitz
Winter 2006

A design for a preliminary school, a nursery and a gymnasium for the famous Thomaner Choire in the city of Leipzig, Germany. The School hosts eight classrooms, separate rooms for music and craft workshops as well as a cafeteria and an auditorium. The ground floor hosts all public areas, the 1st floor the recreational spaces. To forward equality and prevent hierarchy between the pupils all classrooms are on the 2nd floor. Their position on the top floor also illustrates that children are the most precious values of our society.
