Ria-Maternus-Square, Bonn
Open competition for young architects and students
***Best student project
Summer 2005, In cooperation with Elise Meincke
Redesign of the Ria-Maternus-Square in Bonn, the former capital of Germany. After most of the politicians left Bonn to Berlin in the 90s, the square lost rapidly its users and became uncomely and nasty. Even though the square is close to the centre and has a lot of potentials like a water basin or an attractive modern pavilion, with the years it became savaged and unattended. The competition committee was looking for a new, unique identity to attract residents as well as new users.
Many thanks for his advice to Prof. Dr.sc.techn. dipl.Arch.ETH Bernhard Klein. He has also published our work on his website.
